THE CIRCLE

◐◑The circle represents the Cosmos and the Spirit. It is a universal symbol with extensive meaning.
An incredibly ancient, simple but nevertheless complicated symbol, is itself constructed from “some thing” (the unbroken line) and “no thing” the space outside and inside the line. This makes the circle symbol what unifies matter and spirit.
The structure itself has great strength, imagine a lighthouse that is circular and built to withstand the most powerful waves of the sea.
The perfect circle has no beginning and no end and this makes it spiritually and physically very strong. It is this power that is utilized when the circle is used in magickal workings. It is believed to create a fortress of psychic protection, a physical and spiritual safe haven where unwanted or uninvited entities cannot enter.

Hermes Trismegistus said of the circle:
“God is a circle whose center is everywhere and circumference is nowhere”

In antiquity, the most prevalent circles where the Sun and the Moon. As the Sun, the circle is masculine, but as the Moon it is feminine. The circle is also the symbol of the passage of time as it is related to the sun and moon and their movements. In this form, the circle is now viewed as a wheel.
Moreover, the circle has no divisions and no sides and this makes is a symbol of equality. King Arthur’s round table was meant to represent just that. The fellowship of the knights were all equal with each other.

The Circle represents the notions of totality, wholeness, original perfection, the Self, the infinite, eternity, timelessness, all cyclic movement.
